The Netherlands 2019 / sculpture installation 24 ceramic elements, carpet, video 0:51
Red, Pink, Blue, Yellow, Green, Black, White, Orange, Purple, Brown, and Creme
Initially, I planned to create only a black poodle, as a physical representation of a pet for Aniela Lato. I mentioned on her social network accounts that she owned a black poodle.
But it turned out to be a project inspired by the Chinese Calendar. Yet ultimately, it’s a work about time. After moving to the Netherlands, these colors marked specific periods in my life. In the title, the first letters of the color names are listed in chronological order, representing my time in the country (in a dog's years). I finished small sculptures that are toys. The larger sculptures can be interpreted in two ways: as unfinished and abandoned representations of the small figures or as fruit vases/decorative bowls that are useless because they lack bottoms. This story explores time management during childhood and adulthood.
When the exhibition was finished, I gave the ‘toys’ to my family members as they represented their Chinese Zodiac Signs. Only the sheep was left without an owner, but a few years later my cousin married one.
